This one goes back to my time living in Vancouver B.C., Canada My paintings in that period were done on location, in one session, without preliminary sketches nor any working lines on the paper. This is paint applied directly on a blank page. I always liked having the street sign as part of the painting. The building was an oldie then, and looking it up now, the intersection is so the same as it was then! The paper is thick, about 300gm weight, from the Gandhi co-op industries in India. Tis page has blue fibres pressed into the paper, a subtle touch, but effective. The close up picture is of higher resolution to be able to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting. The paint remains as bright as always, a testimony to the traditional Chinese paint sticks. My paintings in that period were done on location, without preliminary sketches nor any working lines on the paper. This is paint applied directly on a blank page. Interested to have your idea painted in this style? Maybe a corner of your neighbourhood? Or a storyboard collage from a recent travel? Contact me.

Malaysia
I'm Canadian born now residing in Malaysia. I've been working professionally as an artist since 1980 ish… time flies. I have exhibited my paintings in Vancouver and coastal B.C., Bangkok, Singapore & Malaysia, areas I’ve lived in over time. Now I do it all online. I’ve traveled extensively over the years and you’ll see that people, places and cultures are a recurring theme in my art. I attach importance to papers I use for my paintings. Some are done on acid free watercolour papers, from 180lb weight to 300lb. I also use handmade parchment type papers. These are thick yet pliable, strong, with deckled edge that add to the look of my paintings. I’m still a passionate guy. I’m passionate about life and people, passionate about art and painting. And I feel really at my best when I’m putting all these things down on paper. I only wish I had more time to delve into all these activities of mine. But I work with what I have. My health sucks so I’m slowing down. And there's more: book illustration, portrait, comic strip, caricature. I also work with camera and computer, to create the images brush strokes just can't deliver. So follow my brush work and hopefully you’ll find that special painting meant just for you.
