VIEW IN MY ROOM
This artwork is loosely inspired by the 1968 song "In the Year 2525" by Zager and Evans, which dramatically describes what could happen regarding changes to our future world.
This composition is primarily in color pencil, and has so many layers of color that it appears opaque, as if a painting. I call my works, Pencil Paintings. Most viewers find it hard to believe that the medium is color pencil rather than paint. I work in meticulous detail, and this size composition takes 3-4 months to complete. This work is framed in a light natural wood frame, with plexiglass.

My work does not conveniently fit into a category. There are elements of abstraction and glimpses of "reality". One might guess at surrealism, but I do not think of my work as such. My objective is about taking a fresh look at the traditional landscape. By using this familiar format, a dialogue is created between the viewer and the image. The brain always attempts to organize the lines, shapes and colors it perceives; with no easy reference point, there may be no connection. A recognizable arrangement even though out of the ordinary begins the communication. Born 1949, New York City. U.S.A.I have been an artist since childhood.I consider that the best is still ahead of me. It is my identity. I draw, paint and sculpt. For more than a decade now, my subject matter in art has been based on theories of a futuristic world. All my work has originated from or related to, cast off objects and recycled materials. My first major drawing on paper series, begun end of 2008 into 2009, The Peripheral World (or Peripherals), was first inspired by thrown away paper tissues, and creased papers. I am currently working on my most large and complex pieces to date.
