About The Artwork
This white marble stone was quarried by hand from a small remote island and transported by fishing boat before being moved the the carving studio on the mountain. The marble is of the whitest of the Filipino marbles and is quarried for small production works unlike this fine art sculpture. The form was realized by one carvery working with hand tools. The design is what emerged. The marble is not made to look like or emulated any existing thing as is unique unto itself. There seems to be figurative design elements along with architectural as well biomorphical.
