During this pandemic I and my family were looking for ways to naturally boost our immune system and we turned to the prophetic advise on the kind of food to consume for health benefits. All the food items in the painting have immense health benefits, Black Seed, Honey, Pomegranate, Figs, Olive Oil, Vinegar, Grapes and Marigold. The white cloth on the left represents a pure heart and the blue cloth hanging from top represents the healthy flow of life which is twisted in a way that it resembles DNA strand. My goal is to capture the attention and captivate the viewer with dramatic lighting and good mix of rich colors. There is a suspense when the painting is not lighted and once it is properly lighted, the painting will stand out. As the viewer continues to enjoy the beauty of the painting, he or she will start noticing the intricacies and will ponder upon the deeper meaning in the painting. I have only used five colors and filbert brushes to create this painting to make sure that my strokes are abstract. To keep it subtle, I painted wet-on-wet. I have used archival quality oil paint with high pigment load on thick linen canvas. It has been gloss varnished and framed as seen in one of the images. I believe that a great Artwork begins with creativity and ends with finesse. Note: LED spotlights, 4000k-5000k color temperature, are highly recommended to enjoy this painting.

Mohamad Quthubdean was born in 1984 in Singapore. He taught himself to paint realism in 2020, at the age of 36. His first painting won award in UOB Painting of the Year 2021, Singapore. He used to sketch a lot when he was young. His art journey stopped at the age of 15 because of higher education, career and family commitment. During COVID lockdown, his wife and daughter reignited his passion for art by completing 40 paintings. Quthub could not resist but to research on oil painting as he always had an interest for this medium. In 2020, he completed his first oil painting in few days and submitted it to UOB Painting of the Year 2021, Singapore, and won an award. Now Quthub is painting full-time and coaching students as well. He pursues excellence in his work and his paintings are inspired by the Qur'an. He strongly believes that any artwork should begin with creativity and end with finesse.
