∆ Began as a combination of an unfinished piece (black corner and paper with found objects) and a page from Samuel Beckett's "How It Is," this work is a direct comment on the short attention span of people across all nations, but in particular the culture in the US. Meant to both soothe and excite, a map to nowhere is drawn. Disparate elements interact and mingle, yet go their separate ways. A story is told that lacks a point, but means something. An imposing presence in any room, this is not a work to sit in the background, idly twiddling its thumbs, no, this piece will get up and shout, or at least speak loudly, to each person who might glance: "I'M HERE." "This is how it is." ____________________________ **PLEASE NOTE**: This piece has a white edge frame built in as part of the piece. It is removable (attached with adhesive and sealed with silicone, gel medium, and paint). DIMENSIONS (w/ built-in frame): 46.13 W x 34.50 H x 1.50 in DIMENSIONS (w/out frame): 36.25 W x 24.25 x 1.00 in ∆

ART, LIKE LIFE, HAPPENS BY ACCIDENT. A whiff of control; some semblance of steering. And belief of a firm grip. But we're grasping at the air beneath our feet. The truth is: we don't hold anything. It comes in bits and bobs, dashes and jots - brief glimpses, spaces, sliding out of sight. For truth, is to feel it slip away. And then to try to create it. - - - Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, & often both, my art reflects the intersection between logic and intuition, real and abstract, time and the timeless. - - - - - - - - - Steven Tannenbaum grew up in New Jersey, where he learned how to garden and defend himself. He now lives in Portland, Oregon, and his art is in public & private collections across the US, Israel, and England. You can find more of his work at: www.whatifind.com
