"Dotted Profile II" is a work on paper from a larger series of abstract collages by Amanda Andersen created in 2023. This series includes visual elements familiar to the artists larger body of work; repeating dot patterns and hard edge geometric shapes complimented by larger irregular shapes. The series combines cut paper shapes into minimal compositions juxtaposing hard edged rigid shapes with rounded forms and a playful spotted pattern. Created with gouache paint on paper, cut and applied with acrylic medium to thick natural white aquarelle paper. Simple asymmetric forms and geometric shapes were created with a limited color palette, to build dynamic and visually striking abstract compositions. This piece used a cool toned beige paper patterned with dark blue, to contrast the dark navy blue solid painted triangle shape next to it. 30 x 40 cm mixed media collage on 300g matte archival paper. The artwork is ready to hang with the included frame as pictured. The frame is solid maple, a very light wood with a slight rose color and has an acrylic front.

Working mostly in acrylic paint on canvas, I make minimal compositions with sprinklings of high contrast patterns and color. My process is a repetition of addition and subtraction, pedaling between the abstract and figurative. Inspired by the rigid lines of Agnes Martin and organic forms of Eva Hesse, I also adore fantasy films, surrealism, brutalist architecture and a really smooth gradient. Sometimes I set my paintings in motion; I'm also an illustrator and animator creating works under digital pseudonym We Throw Rocks. Based out of a poorly heated–yet cozy attic studio bordering the icy waters of Northern Europe.
